So, I used to write a lot of poems, most of them are awful ngl, but it was when I was working through a lot of issues (mostly teen angst, but also just depression/anxiety). I also had a little time to actually work on novels/stories so I used poetry as an outlet for that as well – in that quite a few of my poems are based on fictional characters I created and not my own experience.
I don’t really like writing them now, I much prefer novel writing. This might change in the future, but idk. It’s a nice part of my past, but I don’t feel like I need it as much anymore.
Anyway, I thought it’d be fun to share some of the ones I actually still like:
(content warning: references to emotional abuse, anxiety, dissociation, depression, self-harm, substance abuse, eating disorders)
Girl made of bubblegum
I won’t apologise for my condition
Is this why you’re broken
The ways we find unrequited love
To me, you are everything
(I wrote this one in grade 8 btw)
Why is it?
You burned out and I withered away
You’re dead to me
You’ve been left so many times
THE REMAINING POEMS HAVE CONTENT THAT MAY BE TRIGGERING
TWs include: self-harm, suicide, substance abuse, eating disorders
Please read only if you feel safe to do so. I will not be offended in the least if you are unable to, I value your safety over my work always. ❤ ❤
Writing it out
I didn’t know her at all
(TW: substance abuse, depression, suicide)
Lonely nights of suicide songs
(TW: substance abuse, eating disorder, self-harm, suicide)
